Team records:
Florida State: 17-6 SU, 5-13 ATS
Clemson: 16-7 SU, 10-10 ATS

The Clemson Tigers will host the Florida State Seminoles in an ACC clash on Wednesday at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Seminoles beat the Tigers in their previous meeting on Feb 28, 2009, 73-66 on their way to their first NCAA tournament bid in 11 years

FSU sophomore guard Luke Loucks scored a career-high 19 points to lead his team to a 71-65 win over in-state rival Miami on Saturday night. Team-leader Chris Singleton added 10 points in the win. The Seminoles are 5-4 in ACC play, and have won those games by masking their lack of quality guard play with their tenacious defense. They are miserable, especially from 3-point range, but their defense, which allows opponents to hit just 36.8 percent, has been the difference-maker in may of their games.

In the meantime, the Tigers dropped their fourth of five contests falling to Virginia Tech 70-59 on Saturday. Tanner Smith, Jerai Grant and David Potter each scored 11 for the Tigers who shot a season-worst 30.6 percent from the floor. The loss dropped the Tigers to 4-5 in the ACC and puts them in jeopardy of missing the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. To compound problems, the Tigers are shooting only 25.6 percent form 3-point range in ACC play, and are only 17 of 76 (22.4 percent) from beyond the arc in their last four games. Grant continues his strong play on the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds against the Hokies.

He had 12 boards against Maryland, and has recorded three double-doubles this season.

FSU needs to win at least one, probably two, for an NCAA Tournament bid, while the Tigers must win at least six of their remaining seven. Two of which are against Florida State.

The Seminoles have not had past success at Clemson, but this year’s Tigers are a much different team.

FSU vs. Clemson Odds

The odds makers have the Tigers as –8 ½ -point favorites in this one.

Um… how is Clemson playing FSU at South Carolina’s basketball arena in Columbia? Also we are in jeopardy of missing the tournament for the third straight year? Where did you get this “mis”-information? We Tiger fans are pretty confused!

Clemson has made the tournament the past 2 years. Very, very poorly written. Save your free pick and dont send me any emails i just wanted to comment on how wrong you are lol

I stand corrected. Hey, give the writer a break. LOL! I do a ton of these so I am bound to make a stistical error once a year. ; 0 ) The diffence is 130 miles, close enough.

And yes, Clemson made an early exit in the first round of the NCAA Tourney in 2008 and 2009, their first appearances since the 1997-98 season where they were ousted in round two.
