Records:
Texas Tech: 14-5 SU, 8-5 ATS
Texas: 17-2 SU, 8-7 ATS

The No. 6 Texas Longhorns will look for their 14th consecutive home victory over Texas Tech as they host their Big 12 rival at the Frank Erwin Special Events Center on Wednesday evening in Austin, Texas.

The last time these two met was on Feb 25, 2009, with the Texas edging out an 87-81 win. Texas leads the series 70-53, winning 40 of 61 in Austin.

The Red Raiders has lost four straight on the road and are coming off a 75-65 victory over Oklahoma on Saturday night. Junior forward Mike Singletary led the way with 24 points and made all three of his 3-point attempts in the win. Singletary, is scoring a team-best 15.4 points per game, but has averaged just 8.8 per game in the last four road games. Tech has dropped five of their last eight, including an 0-3 start to Big 12 play. Despite having a height disadvantage against most Big 12 opponents, the Red Raiders confront the problem by drawing fouls while driving inside, but still lack a strong inside presence against bigger conference foes.

The Longhorns have fallen to No. 6 in the rankings after their perfect 17–0 start ended with a 71-62 loss at then-No. 10 Kansas State back on Jan. 18 followed by a second consecutive loss to Connecticut 88-74 on Saturday. Damion James had 23 points and seven rebounds and Avery Bradley added 15 points in the loss. Senior center Dexter Pittman netted just five points against Uconn and has failed to score more than six points in five straight.  The current slump should be short lived, as the Longhorns are loaded with a ton of offensive weapons and a very deep bench.

Texas will pose problems inside for a smaller Red Raiders squad with massive 6-foot-10 center Dexter Pittman. Tech will need to press hard in the paint with their speed, drawing fouls and scoring as many trips to the charity stripe as possible.

Texas Tech vs Texas Odds

The odds makers have the Longhorns at –18 -point favorites and a 160 game total.
