Low-seeded VCU and Florida State will try keeping their magical runs alive when they face each other on March Madness odds this Friday.

Virginia-Commonwealth (26-11, 16-20 ATS) has won five of its past six games, including three straight upset victories: over USC in the “First Four” round to claim the No. 11 seed; topping No. 6 Georgetown 74-56 in the first round; and ousting No. 3 Purdue 94-76 to reach the Sweet 16.

Junior forward Brad Burgess has stepped up his game at precisely the right time. He’s averaging 14.6 points and 9.3 rebounds over his past three games, including 23 points and eight boards in the win over Purdue. Joey Rodriquez has been another standout; the senior guard is averaging 14.5 points and 9.0 assists through the first two rounds of the tournament, and he killed Purdue with 12 points and 11 dimes. The key has been a balanced attack, however, as six different Rams scored in double figures against the Boilermakers. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Florida State (23-10, 16-10-2 ATS) has also pulled off back-to-back upsets. The Seminoles opened the tournament with a 57-50 win over No. 7 Texas A&M. For an encore, they demolished No. 2 Notre Dame 71-57. The ‘Noles have covered five consecutive games against the spread.

Like VCU, the Seminoles also get by with a team effort—though they take care of business at the other end of the floor. Florida State has held its past three opponents to 57 points or fewer with some mean, in-your-face defense. FSU held Notre Dame to just 30.6 percent from the field in the last round, including 7-for-30 from three-point land. The Seminoles were just as destructive on the inside, racking up nine blocks in the victory. Don’t expect an individual to carry the load offensively; four different Seminoles scored in double-figures against the Irish, and it should be more of the same on Friday.

VCU is gaining momentum as the sentimental pick, but FSU could hardly care about sentiment. The Seminoles look dominant on defense right now. After shutting down a very talented Notre Dame squad, squeezing out VCU shouldn’t be a problem.

Trends:

Under is 7-3 in VCU last 10 overall.
Under is 24-6-2 in FSU last 32 neutral site games.
Under is 12-3-1 in FSU last 16 Fri. games.
