The Maryland Terrapins look to avoid a season sweep when they tangle with the Virginia Tech Hokies in an ACC showdown this Tuesday night. Tip-off from Blacksburg is set for 8 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.com.

Maryland will try and rebound from a 76-72 loss to Boston College this past Saturday as a 3 ½-point road favorite. The loss dropped the Terrapins to 16-9 straight-up on the year and 9-10 against the spread. They are currently in seventh-place in the ACC standings at 5-5 SU.

Jordan Williams has been a force this season for Maryland with 17.1 points and 11.8 rebounds a game. Cliff Tucker is second on the team in scoring with 10.6 points a game and Adrian Bowie leads in assists with 3.7. The Terrapins are averaging 78 points and their 40 rebounds a game is 12th-best in the nation.

Virginia Tech ran its overall record on the year to 16-7 SU (9-9-1 ATS) and to 6-4 SU in the conference with a wild 102-77 victory over Georgia Tech this past Sunday as 10 ½-point home favorite. This followed a surprising 58-56 loss to Boston College as a two-point road favorite on Feb.5.

Malcolm Delaney leads the team with 19 points and 4.3 assists per game. Jeff Allen is second on the team in scoring with an average of 13.7 points a game, while Erick Green and Dorenzo Hudson are each averaging over 10 points. The Hokies are shooting 46.5 percent from the field and averaging 72 points a game.

Virginia Tech beat the Terrapins 74-57 as a 5 ½-point road underdog on Jan.20 and Maryland is poised to return the favor this time around. The Terps may not get the outright win, but will be able to keep things close enough to cover.

Gambling Trends:

MARY are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 road games.
Under is 7-3 in MARY last 10 overall.
Underdog is 6-1-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings.

The Pick: Maryland +4
