The Seton Hall Pirates will look to play the role of spoiler when they take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this Saturday Night at the Joyce Center in South Bend. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and it will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Seton Hall’s chance to make it to the big dance in March now hinges on winning the Big East Tournament after losing four of its last five games. Last Saturday the Pirates lost to Marquette 73-64 as a 7 ½-point road underdog to fall to 11-16 straight-up and 12-13 against the spread. They are near the bottom of the conference standings at 5-10 SU.

Jeremy Hazell continues to be a force with 18.9 points a game while Herb Pope is pulling down an average of 8.4 rebounds to lead the Pirates. Seton Hall is shooting just 40.9 percent from the field and a dismal 28.4 percent from three-point range. It is averaging 67 points and 36 rebounds a game.

Notre Dame bounced back from a 72-58 loss to West Virginia last Saturday as a four-point road underdog with a thrilling 94-93 victory over Providence as a four-point home favorite this past Wednesday night. The Irish are currently 22-5 SU overall (12-10 ATS) and two games behind Pittsburgh in the Big East standings with a conference record of 11-4 SU.

This team will go as far as Ben Hansbrough and Tim Abromaitis will take it. Hansbrough leads the team in scoring with an average of 17.9 points a game, while Abromaitis is averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds a game. Notre Dame is averaging 76 points and 37 rebounds a game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field.

Head-to-head, Notre Dame has won seven of the last eight games SU and are 6-2 ATS. The Irish should have little trouble extending their recent success over the Pirates as they coast to a one-sided win.
