The Pittsburgh Panthers will be looking to erase the memory of last Monday’s loss to No.15 Notre Dame when they take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights this Saturday night. Tip-off from Piscataway is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Pitts shocking 56-51 loss to the Irish as a 10 ½-point home favorite comes right after the team reached the No.2 spot in the nation, from which it is bound to fall a few places when the next poll is released on Monday. The Panthers are 19-2 straight-up on the season but just 8-8 against the spread. The loss to the Irish was their first in the Big East after seven previous wins.

This team’s big three consists of Ashton Gibbs, Brad Wanamaker, and Gilbert Brown. Gibbs leads the team with 15.5 points per game, while Wanamaker is averaging 12.7 and Brown is averaging 11.6. The Panthers are shooting 48.2 percent from the field as averaging 79 points a game.

Rutgers continues to trudge its way through a brutal Big East schedule with an overall record of 12-8 SU (6-9-1 ATS) and 3-5 in conference play. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 72-56 loss to Cincinnati this past Wednesday as a 10 ½-point road underdog.

Jonathan Mitchell is the only player averaging in double-figures with 13.3 points a game and Rutgers as a team is only averaging 67 points a game. To make matters worse, the Knights have been weak under the boards with an average of just 34 rebounds a game and are shooting just 65.5 percent from the three-throw line.

No amount of points will save Rutgers in this one as Pitt rolls to a big road victory over one of the lesser teams in the conference.
