The top two teams in the Big East square off against one another this Monday night when the Syracuse Orange travel to the Petersen Events Center to play the Pittsburgh Panthers. This game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Syracuse remained perfect on the season with a 67-52 romp over Cincinnati this past Saturday as a seven-point home favorite. The Orange are now 18-0 SU overall, but just 7-9 ATS. The win over the Bearcats raised their record in the conference to 5-0 SU.

Kris Joseph is the team’s leading scorer with 14.6 points per game and Scoop Jardine is averaging 13.7 points and a team-high 6.1 assists. Rick Jackson rounds out a very talented trio of players with 13.2 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. The Orange is averaging 75.5 points per game and shooting 48.7 percent from the floor.

Pittsburgh won its seventh straight game this Saturday with a convincing 74-52 victory over Seton Hall as a 13 ½-point home favorite. The Panthers are now 17-1 SU on the year and 6-7 ATS. They too are a perfect 5-0 SU in the Big East.

Look for Ashton Gibbs to come up big in this game. The junior guard leads the team with 16.3 points per game. Brad Wanamaker leads in assists with 5.3 per game and is second in scoring with 12.8 points. The Panthers are shooting 48.5 percent from the field and averaging 80 points a game. Pitt is second in the nation in rebounds with an average of 42.7 per game.

The Panthers have won eight of the last 10 meetings SU and are 4-0 ATS in the last four. The average margin of victory in the last four meetings was 10.2 points, so you can expect them to cover the five points this time around.

The Pick: Pittsburgh -5
