The Syracuse Orange take on the Louisville Cardinals this Saturday afternoon in a Big East showdown of ranked teams. Tip-off from the KFC Yum Center is set for 12 p.m. and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN
Syracuse comes into this game in desperate need of a quality win after losing five of its last seven games including a 64-56 loss to No. 11 Georgetown as a five-point home favorite on Wednesday night. The Orange are currently 20-5 straight-up overall (9-14 against the spread) and in seventh-place in the conference at 7-5 SU.
The big three for the Orange are Kris Joseph, Rick Jackson, and Scoop Jardine. Joseph leads the team in scoring with 15 points a game, while Jackson is averaging 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. Jardine rounds out the trio with 12.3 points and six assists a game. Syracuse is averaging 74 points and 38 rebounds a game.
Louisville is coming off a tough 89-79 loss to No.7 Notre Dame this past Wednesday as a 4 ½-point road underdog. This followed a 61-57 win over DePaul as an 18 ½-point home favorite last Saturday. The Cardinals have an overall record of 18-6 SU and are 11-9-1 ATS. They are in fifth-place in the Big East at 7-4 SU.
Preston Knowles is Louisville’s top scorer with an average of 14.8 points a game, and Peyton Siva is the second-leading scorer with 10.2 points and leads the team in assists with 5.3. The Cardinals are shooting 46.6 percent from the field and averaging 78 points a game. They are ranked fifth in the nation in assists with an average of 17.9 a game.
Syracuse has struggled with consistency over the past month which does not bode well against a Cardinals team that is 15-2 SU at home this season.
