ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview

Connecticut

Thankfully they recovered to beat a very good Harvard team then got their first AAC victory earlier on the weekend against UCF.

Time and time again their lack of production up front is proving to be a fatal weakness. They do have great guards but they are not the only ones who do in this league.

Those guards are Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright who average 28 points between them.

Napier was a player of the year candidate early but he might already be tiring a little. Towards the end of last year SF DeAndre Daniels was really coming on but he hasn’t taken that next step.

He is probably the most talented player on the team but is currently being outrebounded by Napier who is six inches shorter. That is a nutshell is their problem.

UConn has not been good against the number this season at 6-8 ATS including 1-3 ATS on the road.

They have a tough opening to their league schedule with 3 of their first 4 on the road and they and them Louisville at home. Having dropped the first two there is a lot of pressure on them to steal this one.

Memphis

These Tigers have gotten off to a great start in this inaugural AAC season. They also played three of their first 4 on the road but they have gone 3-1 including road wins at Louisville and Temple to start. With 4 straight winnable games at home they have a chance to really get on a roll before hitting the road again towards the end of the month.

With Louisville staggering they have as good a chance as any at winning this league.

The Tigers have a terrific backcourt but it has been the play up front that will make the real difference for this team. The light seems to have finally gone on for 5 star sophomore Shaq Goodwin, who is second on the team in scoring and leading the tigers in rebounds.

He is one of the more imposing figures in college hoops and can certainly still get a lot better. Transfer guard Michael Dixon has fit in nicely too.

He is a bit of a gunner but he gives max effort too.

I think this Memphis team is primed to explode. Don’t get too caught up in it yet though because they have not been making anybody any money, especially at home where they are only 1-4 ATS. I like this matchup as they should be able to easily match up with UConn in the backcourt and win up front.
