NCAAB Power Ratings: Conference Tourney Edition

The regular season has ended, and the Conference Championships are in full swing, teams are jockeying for position heading into the Big Dance, here is the conference tournament edition of our CBB Power Rankings…

College Basketball Power Rankings

The regular season has ended, and the Conference Championships are in full swing as the top college basketball teams in the nation jockey for position heading into the Big Dance.

With Selection Sunday only days away, prized bracket seedings are still on the line as anything can happen over the next few days.

The way I see it, three teams have a lock on a number one seed; Pittsburgh, Connecticut, and North Carolina no matter what they do in their conference tournament, but the 4th one seed is still up for grabs.

Everyone else’s bracket spot is still up in the air and will be impacted by how well they perform in their respective tournament, so grab some extra batteries for the remote and settle in for the weekend.

These are my Top 10 teams.

1). Pittsburgh Panthers:

After beating UConn for the second time this season, the Panthers have established themselves as the team to beat. After falling out of favor a few weeks ago, they are back with a vengeance and playing their best ball of the season.

2) North Carolina Tar Heels:

Similar to Pitt they are coming off a big season ending win beating Duke again to lock up the outright ACC regular season title. I look for them to carry this momentum right through the ACC tournament into the NCAA’s.

3) Connecticut Huskies:

Despite losing to Pitt they are still a solid number one seed and a strong favorite to make it to the Final Four. They can redeem themselves by winning the Big East tournament and regain the swagger they once had when ranked number one.

4) Memphis Tigers:

With all the focus on the Big East and the ACC this team doesn’t get as much credit as they deserve for turning in a great season. They are my choice for the final number one seed but will have to look impressive in winning the Conference USA tournament to lock it up.

5) Louisville Cardinals:

If they can get on a roll and win the Big East tournament, which is not a stretch, they could vault themselves into a number one seed giving three out of four of the top spots to the Big East.

6) Kansas Jayhawks:

They have been a roller coaster team all season lacking the consistency to keep them ranked higher. A strong showing in the Big 12 tourney could provide the spark needed to get them on a roll in the NCAA’s .

7) Duke Blue Devils:

After losing to North Carolina for a second time many people are ready to count this team out of any national title hopes. I still like their chances and would love to see them get another shot at the Tar Heels in the ACC tournament final.

8) Michigan State Spartans:

While the Big Ten has not been one of the strongest conferences this year, the Spartans are still a very good team and should be considered a solid 2 seed in the NCAA’s.

9) Wake Forest Demon Deacons:

With victories over North Carolina and Duke and finishing the season playing some of their best ball, this is definitely a team to keep your eye on.

10) Villanova Wildcats:

Coming in as the number 4 seed in the Big East tournament they have a good chance to upset one of the higher seeds, if not win the championship outright. As with Wake Forest, this is another team that can make some noise over the next few weeks.

Villanova can and should make some noise, they didn’t do anything except win all of their games last week.

I think I might of dropped Kansas a little more here, their loss to TT should have hurt them more maybe…
