The Huskies are a maddening bunch. A lot was expected of this team in the preseason and they disappointed early on. They appear to be hitting their stride lately winning 9 of their last 11. They are of course led by their backcourt even though highly touted frosh Abdul Gaddy has been a disappointment. Quincy Pondexter is enjoying a very good senior season.
His scoring is up and he is showing a better all-round game leading the team in rebounds as well. He can really light it up having hit for more than 25 points in 11 games this season already. Washington is probably into the Tournament at this point but another win wouldn’t hurt so they should be sharp this evening.
Stanford has stumbled along this year but you can not blame forward Landry Fields. The athletic forward has almost doubled his scoring and is the teams leading rebounder but production from the rest of the Cardinal has been sporadic. Surprisingly they beat Arizona State in the quartefinals using hot shooting to get past a team desperate for a win to make the Tournament.
Stanford needs to win the whole enchilada if they want to join the Madness but this seems very unlikely given their season long performance and earlier drubbings at the hands of the Huskies.
