No 10 Kansas Jayhawks vs. Kansas State Wildcats Preview

Kansas State (17-7) already lost to Kansas by 18 points earlier this season and in this home game they are underdogs by 3.5 points with a total of 137.

In their last games Kansas easily beat Oklahoma State 81-66 while Kansas State lost to Texas 75-64.

On the season Kansas is 12-11-1 ATS with an O/U record of 8-15-1 and Kansas State is 9-11 ATS with an O/U record of 10-10.

Kansas State suffered a meltdown in the loss to Texas where they had a 15-point lead. They sent the Longhorns to the free throw line a Big 12 record 48 times and the Wildcats have to stay out of foul trouble in this game.

Kansas State and their D will have their hands full in this game trying to contain PF Thomas Robinson (18.1 ppg 12.1 rpg) Also, 7′ C Jeff Withey (9.2 ppg 6.3 rpg) has been on fire as of late taking a lot of pressure off Robinson and he has scored in double figures in 4 of his last 5 games and in the Oklahoma State game he scored 18 points and pulled down 20 rebounds.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

Kansas State is led by the backcourt duo of Rodney McGruder (14.6 ppg) and Will Spradling (10.4 ppg) and these guys will have to shoot the rock well for the Wildcats to pull off the home upset.

The KSU frontcourt duo of Jamar Samuels (9.6 ppg 6.1 rpg) and Thomas Gipson (8.1 ppg 5.3 rpg) are both 6’7″ and give up a lot of size in the paint and they have to body up on Robinson and Withey and not let them have their way in the lane.

In the earlier match up with the Jayhawks the Wildcats were killed on the glass getting out-rebounded 50-26 and if they do not hit the boards in this game they will be dealt their 2nd straight loss and it will hurt their chances to make it to the Big Dance.

In some betting trends for this Big 12 match up Kansas is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite, 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS loss, and they have an Under record of 6-0 in their last 6 games as a road favorite.

Kansas State is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games, 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games against teams with a winning % above 60%, and they have an Under record of 5-2 in their last 7 games.

Jason’s Pick: This one is an easy one, as even though Kansas State is a tough place to play the Jayhawks will easily win and cover, as their frontcourt will dominate this game.
