Colorado Buffaloes vs. California Golden Bears Preview

The Buffaloes have won 2 straight and they should have confidence in this game, as they beat the Golden Bears by 13 points at the end of the regular season.

In the Pac 12 quarterfinals Colorado beat Oregon 63-62 and Cal snapped their 2-game losing streak with a 77-71 win over Stanford.

This season Cal is 17-13 ATS with an O/U record of 12-18 and Colorado is 14-14 ATS with an O/U record of 11-17.

Even though the Buffaloes were killed on the glass in the win over Oregon they played great D holding the Ducks to under 40% shooting from the floor. F Andre Roberson and G Carlon Brown combined for 30 points in the game and they will have to play a good inside/outside game tonight against a Cal defense that ranked 2nd in the Pac 12 in opponents points allowed and held Stanford to only 37.7% shooting last night. Every Cal starter scored in double figures last night led by G Jorge Gutierrez, who scored 22 points and was 3/4 behind the 3-point arc. The Golden Bears shot 52% from the floor in the Stanford win, but they did commit 17 turnovers and they cannot allow that to happen again.

Jorge Gutierrez had his worst game of the season in the loss at the end of the season against Colorado going 0/7 from the field for 0 points. He and backcourt mate Allen Crabbe are the 2 leading scorers for the Golden Bears and will have to play well against a Buffaloes’ team that is playing with a lot of confidence.

Cal must keep Andre Roberson out of the lane and not let him have a big game on the glass like they did in the last meeting between these 2 teams when he pulled down 15 boards.

In some betting trends for this Pac 12 semifinals match up Colorado is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, and they have an Under record of 7-2 in their last 9 games.

Cal is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above 60%, and they have an Under record of 8-1 in their last 9 neutral site games.

Jason’s Pick: Colorado is playing well, but something tells me Cal will have a great shooting game and play good D, as the Golden Bears will win this game and cover the spread.
