No. 4 Baylor Bears vs. No. 10 Kansas Jayhawks Preview

Baylor has a great defensive team and their offense is also legit and they will have to play well on both sides of the court in this game at Phog Allen Fieldhouse, which is one of the toughest places in the nation for opponents to win. NCAAB lines have Kansas as 6-point home favorites with a total of 137.

In their last games Baylor crushed Oklahoma State beating them 106-65 and Kansas beat Iowa State 82-73.

This season Kansas is 9-7 ATS with an O/U record of 5-11 and Baylor is 6-4 ATS with an O/U record of 6-4.

This game has a sweet match up of big men with Baylor’s 6’11” Perry Jones III (13.8 ppg 7.7 rpg) and Kansas’ 6’9″ Thomas Robinson (17.2 ppg 12.2 rpg). Both teams are pretty even in terms of scoring, rebounds, and field goal percentage and the winner of this match up may determine who wins the game.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

Baylor has a lot of size inside, which is why their have one of the best defensive team in the nation ranking 11th in opponents field goal percentage.

Kansas’ 2nd leading scorer Tyshawn Taylor (15.5 ppg) is coming off a 28-point game and must have a good game so the Baylor D does not pack the lane to contain Robinson.

Kansas has a better backcourt with Taylor and Travis Releford (10 ppg) and both are shooting over 38% from beyond the 3-point arc. If these guys can knock down the open J it will open up the lane and if that happens Robinson may have another big game.

Perry III is joined in the frontcourt by Quincy Acy (12.3 ppg 6.9 rpg) and he will need to rebound the ball well and help Perry out on offense.

The last time Baylor beat Kansas is was in the 2009 Big 12 tournament.

Betting Trends

Baylor is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Big 12 games, and they have an Over record of 4-0 in their last 4 games.

Kansas is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games against teams with a winning road record and they have an Under record of 5-1 in their last 6 games.

Pick: Baylor has covered the spread in their last 6 games at Kansas, but that streak will end tonight. I think Robinson will have a big game and the Kansas D will keep the Baylor offense in check. Take the Jayhawks to win this game and cover the spread.
