College Hoops Preview: Sooners vs. Longhorns (Feb. 21)

The fans at Frank Erwin Center will be treated to a game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns when they take their seats on Saturday. Oddsmakers currently have the Longhorns listed as 1-point favorites…

(2) Oklahoma vs. Texas – Blake Griffin is the MAN

The Oklahoma Sooners travel to Texas to take on the Longhorns in a game where Oklahoma could further solidify themselves as a contender for the National Championship. The Sooners have been very good straight-up this season going 25 and 1. Their record against the spread in the Sportsbook is 12-8-1 but it’s good enough to put them into the Power Rankings.Their ATS record on the road is 5-2-1.

The Texas Longhorns have been a solid team for a long time. They are 17 and 8 this season and 9 and 13 against the spread. Texas isn’t as dominating as they have been in past seasons, but they do get the Sooners at home for this.

Here is my personal sports betting line for this game:

Oklahoma Sooners -6 ½ -110
Texas Longhorns +6 ½ -110

Here are a few online wagering trends for this game:

The Oklahoma Sooners are 4-0-1 against the spread in their last 5 games on the road.
The Favorite is 5 and 1 against the spread in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
The Texas Longhorns are 1 and 5 against the spread in their last 6 games versus a team from the Big-12.
The Texas Longhorns are 0 and 4 against the spread in their last 4 games on a Saturday.

The Longhorns will have to rely on A.J. Abrams for most of their points. Those points may not come easy as Abrams is definitely going to be double-teamed throughout this game.

Oklahoma has the best player in college basketball on their team, Blake Griffin. Griffin is as dominating as any college basketball player I’ve ever seen. In his last game he put up 40 points and grabbed 23 rebounds.

Texas has no answer to Griffin and it showed the last time these two teams played as the Longhorns were drubbed by 15 points.

I don’t see much change in this game. Oklahoma is just too strong physically for Texas to keep pace. Texas will be okay in the first half, but then the Sooners will take charge and pull away in the second half.

Oklahoma vs. Texas Prediction:

I’ll bet the Oklahoma Sooners to cover a spread of +8 ½ or less in the sportsbook.
