The No. 15 Ohio State Buckeyes will travel to the Kohl Center on Thursday to tip off against the No. 23 Wisconsin Badgers in Madison, WI.

The last time these two teams met the Buckeyes handed the Badgers a 61-57 loss on Mar 13, 2009.

David Lighty scored a career-high 30 points leading his team past Cleveland State 72-59 on Tuesday night. Dallas Lauderdale, added 12 points and eight rebounds in the win. Lighty, a junior has stepped up filling the vacancy left by injured star Evan Turner, who broke two bones in his lower back while dunking in a game on Dec. 5 against EMU.

Tuner was the Buckeyes leading scorer averaging 18.5 points per game before being sidelined.

Team doctors estimated he would be out for eight weeks, but will be re-evaluated shortly after Christmas in hopes of an early 2010 return. Ohio State has struggled against man-to-man defenses without Turner so an earlier than expected return would be welcomed. The Buckeyes enter conference play third in the country in shooting (.524), 10th in 3-pointers made (109) and 12th in scoring (81.6).

The Badgers Jon Leuer scored a game-high 17 points as Wisconsin defeated Illinois-Chicago 79-43 on Sunday. Leuer, who has averaged 15.8 points over the past five games, was 6 of 8 from the field against the Flames and also had a career-high five assists and seven rebounds. Leuer ranks fourth in the league in scoring with 17.0 points per game, sixth in field goal shooting at 59.1 percent, and ninth in rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game.

The Badgers, who led the nation in scoring defense in 2007-08, wrapped up non-conference play as the Big Ten’s leader in scoring defense allowing just 58.4 points per game.

Opponents shot just 39.7 percent from the field and 32.2 percent from 3-point range.

The big question for Ohio is whether or not they can compete legitimately against Big Ten opponents without Evan Turner. The Bucks are 3-1 without Turner with a loss to No. 20 Butler and three wins against unranked teams with an RPI rating of 296 and higher.
