The top of the Big Ten is a huge battle this season. Right now the Buckeyes are sitting in a three way tie for second in the conference with Wisconsin and Michigan – a couple of games back of Indiana and Michigan State (one of whom has to lose next week).

Ohio State

All 4 of their losses in conference have been to ranked teams, including two last week.  Winning at Madison is always very difficult.

In two losses last week it was the defense that let them down by giving up an average of 79ppg.

After forward DeShaun Thomas, the Buckeyes struggle to score so when the defense doesn’t come through it is a real challenge for them.

The pace of this one should suit them just fine, enabling them to work through Thomas on almost all offensive possessions.

They will have to pay attention to the backboards as Wisconsin really goes after it and OSU does not have any dominating big bodies this season.

Ohio State has been a solid play for the season at 12-9-1 ATS but they have dropped three of their last 4 against the number.

They usually bounce back after an ATS loss (4-1) and enjoy playing on Sundays (9-3) – I wonder if that has anything to do with really being a football school.

The favourite usually covers between these two (6-1 ATS)

Wisconsin

The Badgers are looking to rebound after losing at Minnesota on Valentine’s day.

They do a great job defending their home court, having already beaten three ranked opponents in Madison this season.  Wisconsin makes it difficult to play against them with their physicality and slow tempo.

Looking at the results of some of their previous games this one could be another close yawnfest. [ad-6571516]

One of the things that makes this year’s Badgers team difficult to prepare for is the lack of a real go to player.  4 players average between 9 and 12 ppg with none ever really exerting themselves on the game the way PG Jordan Taylor did the last couple of season.

This makes them dangerous and interesting late in close game, which they play a lot of, because nobody on either side seems to know who is going to take the final shot.

Wisconsin has been hard to read all season long so their poor ATS record is no surprise.  Just when you think they couldn’t play any uglier or slower they sink to a new low like they did against Minnesota winning 45-44.

I expect that they will be able to control one and add a few points that will make them and you a winner.
