Ohio State

They have lost only a couple of conference games and among their wins is a victory over the Wolverines from earlier this season.  I am not a big fan of this iteration of the Buckeyes but they are having success.

They are just 3-3 in true road games this season and it won’t be easy to win at Big Blue.

Great profile on point guard Aaron Craft in SI recently.  His proficiency at being a defensive menace is well documented and he has been especially good at slowing down Michigan guard Trey Burke.  He is a game changer even though he doesn’t score all that much.

For scoring the Buckeyes look to forward DeShaun Thomas, who is averaging 20ppg.  When he gets support this team is tough to beat.

This Ohio State team is a good one to play in underdog situations.  They play good defense and have smart leadership that gives them a chance to set the tempo even on the road.

If they had lost to Michigan earlier I would have felt better about them here, I just don’t see them sweeping a UM team this good. [ad-6571516]

Michigan

Its funny, the Wolverines are at the top of the polls even though they lost their last game at Indiana, who they are looking up at in the conference standings.  They will look to keep pace by getting some revenge on Ohio State, who beat them by three in a slugfest earlier this season.

At home this team Michigan will look to create a better pace that caters more to their strengths.  The higher scoring the better.

Even if guard Trey Burke has another off night against OSU the Wolverines have more than enough surrounding talent to beat the Buckeyes.  Burke is just 1 of 4 perimeter players who are averaging double figures in points and freshman pivot Mitch McGary seems to be getting more comfortable all the time.

This team is loaded which is why that ranking is no fluke.  They will be looking to prove it too.

Michigan can be a fantastic offensive team and I am betting they will be better prepared for OSU this time around.

Craft may very well win the battle with Burke but the younger Wolverines will be much more comfortable after sleeping in their own bed to run away with a hard fought victory that should keep them on top.
