This is Kansas’ fourth game in six against the PAC 10. They may be undefeated so far but I have not been overly impressed with the Jayhawks thus far. They narrowly escaped Pauley Pavilion with a win over UCLA and were almost downed at home by USC on the weekend. Speaking of making impressions though, how about that Josh Selby kid. He is finally eligible and opened his college career with 21 points including 5 of 8 from three point range. You can see what all the fuss is about and it will be interesting to observe how they are able to smoothly integrate in talents into the lineup. This is a good team but it is a notch below what we have seen the last few years no matter what the rankings and statistics say. Their biggest strength right now is their depth.
This is going to be a down year for the Cal Bears. They have lost a ton of talent to graduation and are going to struggle all season long regardless of competition due to a lack of experience and more importantly talent. To date their best win was against Temple as a 4.5 point dog. As impressive as that one was Temple is the kind of team that lets you stay in the game with their slowdown style. Kansas is the exact opposite and there is a good chance they could lose this game by more than 30 points on their home floor. I see no way that Cal is going to really challenge in this one. The only saving grace is that given the time of year few are probably going to actually see this one.
