Recent history: Missouri won last year 81-68 at Mizzou

Illinois was off to a very good start with wins over North Carolina, Gonzaga, Maryland and Oakland (I know, who would of though).  But in their last contest they lost to Illinois-Chicago in what is one of the more stunning upsets of the young season. Now they face off against their non-conference rival Mizzou with their confidence a little shaken.  Against Illinois-Chicago they shot the ball horribly, especially their senior frontcourt duo of Mike Tisdale and Mike Davis who were a combined 2 for 11, scoring 6 points in total.  That was against a Flames team not exactly knows for defense so it will be interesting to see how the Illini hold up against the Mizzou pressure.  This team needs PG Dametri McCamey to step up.  He is their best player and will be critical against the Tigers.

Missouri has looked very good in prepping for what should be a tight year at the top of the Big 12.  With the exception of an OT loss to a very good Georgetown team they have won every game of this young season including a nice victory over a good Vanderbilt team.  However, you can tell from the ATS record that the schedule has been a little weak and they haven’t been dominating.  The Tigers lost some key guards from last year and are still figuring out their best five to put out there.  Meanwhile they have great balance with 5 players in double figures led by Marcus Denmon who is averaging 16 points per game.  He has been sizzling in the early going shooting 48% from three point land.

Betting Trends:

Fighting Illini are 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 vs. Big 12.
Fighting Illini are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
Fighting Illini are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 neutral site games.
Tigers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games.
Tigers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win.
Tigers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games.

Free Fighting Illini vs Tigers CBB Pick

With the Tigers down a couple of key players due to suspension (Michael Dixon) and injury (Phill Pressey) the Illini should be able to gut out a close game

Score prediction:   Illinois 75 – Missouri 70
