Kentucky enters SEC play with a 7 game winning streak and the best freshman duo in the country.  Brandon Knight is continuing Coach Calipari’s streak of amazing freshman point guards and forward Terrence Jones is averaging nearly a double-double.  Frosh shooting guard Doron Lamb isn’t bad either at just over 14ppg.  Just imagine where this group would be if they had Big Enes Kanter as well.  The Wildcats have made up for the muscle he would have given them with junior Josh Harrelson.  A beast at 6’10” 275 he was an afterthought last year but this year he is leading the team in rebounding at 9.4 per game and providing toughness to an otherwise soft group.  Kentucky may not have quite as much talent as they did last season but this teams is already starting to gel and has to be considered the favourite to win the SEC as the conference starts battling each other.

Many touted the Bulldogs as sleepers this year and they are off to a good start.  Their two losses are to Temple and Notre Dame, both good teams, at neutral sites…but they haven’t beaten anybody.  As their ATS record shows they are playing below expectations even though they are winning.  Coach Fox will take it though as in the past they have lost those games you need to continue your season into the Big Dance.  The Bulldogs have also one of the better duos in the league in big man Trey Thompkins and guard Travis Leslie.  Neither has set the world on fire yet this season as Thompkins has struggled a bit while coming back form injury and Leslie has been an icy 18% from deep.  Leslie is a fabulous athlete who generates more highlights than any other player in the conference and is probably the best rebounding guard in the nations.  These two are the givens but if they are going to beat UK they need someone else to step up.  Gerald Robinson is a transfer from Tennessee State who has proven to have what it takes to compete at a higher level so far.  He was very sharp against ND and Temple and won’t be intimidated by Big Blue.

There is no doubt UK is the better team.  It is always tough on the road in conference play but these guys have been so cool this year and the number is reasonable.  It should be fun to watch Harrelson battle 264 pound Jeremy Price.  Take Kentucky.

Score prediction:  Kentucky 80 – Georgia 72
