The Buffs are a pretty good team coming off a nail-biter of a win against Kansas State last Saturday.  In an odd piece of scheduling they have had a whole week to recover from that emotional game and will be facing off against a Kansas squad that was humbled by those same Wildcats early in the week.

Colorado is not very big inside (understatement) but they are one of the better shooting teams in the country and if the wing tandem of Alec Burks and Corey Higgins are on their game they can give the Jayhawks (or any team really) a run for their money.  The Buffs covered in their loss to the Jayhawks at home last month when the duo combined for 44 points.

In that same game Colorado got murdered on the boards.  Only hot shooting from deep and a scant 6 turnovers kept them in the game.

Those are the kinds of numbers that are much easier to make at home than when visiting one of the toughest arena in the country – Allen Fieldhouse – especially against a potentially ornery Kansas team.

Kansas took over the #1 spot only to have their hearts ripped out on Valentine’s Day by rival Kansas State.

In that game they seemed to lose interest and focus pretty quickly and could do nothing to slow guard Jacob Pullen who scored 38 points (he went to the line a staggering 19 times).  The Jayhawks are assured post season play at this point but if they want to stay on that top seed line they need to quickly reverse their fortunes.

Returning home helps but after losing to Texasa few weeks back the old arena isn’t as intimidating as ti used to be (No…Colorado is not Texas).  When the Longhorns broke the Jayhawks home winning streak it was because of superior play in the backcourt.  Kansas coach Bill Self has to be concerned because that is most definitely the strong suit of the Buffaloes as well.

It should also be noted that despite the lone loss Kansas is just 13-11 ATS at home this season.

A win by the Buffs would seal their tournament worthiness but that is a pretty tall order for the Buffaloes.  I don’t think that is in the cards but another close game and cover is what I expect.

Score prediction:   Kansas 84 – Colorado 79
