Nevada

No one in Vegas may be betting on this one because of the rules but you can bet there is action on this game somewhere.

Nevada is looking to stop a streak of 6 straight losses to UNLV, though they have covered the last 2.

Nevada is definitely lighter on the talent side of things but they might have the best guard on the floor in Deonte Burton.  Burton leads the team in scoring at 16ppg but is followed closely by backcourt mate Malik Story to combine for more than 30ppg.

They are going to need to be there in this one for the team to have a chance because Nevada’s perimeter oriented attack will be no match for UNLV inside.

The Wolf Pack may play in the state of Nevada but they are not making friends with bettors with their 6-11-1 ATS record – and that is after winning two of their last three.  In the WAC they were able to throw some weight around but not so in the Mountain West, especially this year where there is so much depth at the top.

UNLV

UNLV is enjoying a nice season but probably a notch below expectations so far.  Last year they beat a stacked North Carolina team but this year they lost to a mediocre one and they have already dropped two league games, something some might have thought they wouldn’t do all season long. This team has great talent but with some new key players it might have been unfair to expect them to gel right away.

Forward Anthony Bennett didn’t take too long to get acclimated though and has been a godsend.  Though just a freshman he already has a mature physique and game.  He has scored in double figures in every game this year but two, both road games, no surprise given his lack of experience.

This team is still trying to figure out how to mix Bennett with other bigs Mike Moser and Khem Birch.  It is a good problem to have.

UNLV should win easily but will they have it in them to beat down the Wolf Pack and grab the cover.  They have not been good as a heavy favourite going just 4-7 as double digit favourites.

This team is still trying to figure itself out rather than put teams away which is not good for your wallet.
