Losses are losses but it should at least be noted that N.C. State’s 4 conference losses are by a total of just 7 points. Losing to Wake Forest was inexcusable this season but the others are acceptable, even if they do bury the Wolfpack in 5th place in the ACC.

N.C State
Next up is Duke who they walloped at home earlier this season. If they can beat them again they should yo-yo back into the rankings.
They have their flaws but it is hard not to like the makeup of this N.C. State team. As the season has progressed forward C.J. Leslie has asserted himself more himself as a scorer, leading a group of 5 starters that all average in double figures. Even more amazing is that three of those players are shooting better than 55% from the field.
They had no trouble scoring against Duke the last time out.

I know Cameron presents a true home court advantage but given the recent win over Duke and N.C. State’s ability to play close games I don’t know how you can not be on their side in this one. To me they are the more talented and deeper team to boot. This one seems off to me so hit it hard.
Duke
After losing to N.C. State you can bet that Duke, and their fans, were looking forward to this game. The Blue Devils are in second place in the conference but the gap between them and the top team – Miami – is widening, and if they lose again they could be in 5th by the end of the week. [ad-6571516]
Even though they still have just two losses the conversation surrounding this Duke team is one that might have peaked too early.
The same could be said for top player Mason Plumlee. One month into the season he looked like the top candidate for player of the year now he just looks like a good player making the improvements that seniors should. The Blue Devils really miss fellow big man Ryan Kelly a lot as they can not get all the things he did from one player. The dynamics are off making this team beatable, especially on the road.
As stated above this number seems off to me and Duke hasn’t been cashing much at the window either – just 12-9 ATS. I am guessing some are down on N.C. State but I am down on the Dookies too. I don’t think the home court is going to be enough to get this bunch to that kind of a victory. In fact I think they are ripe for another upset.
