N.C. State Wolfpack vs. UConn Huskies Free Gambling Prediction & CBB Preview

Wolf Pack vs Wolverines CBB Basketball Spread/Handicapping

The Wolfpack haven’t played in a week since losing at Michigan in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The loss was their second in their last three outings which is opening up some pretty big questions about this supposed National Championship contender.

NC State

Things don’t get much easier this week, leading off with a game against surprising UConn at the Gardens – aka Big East country.

The story in the early going has been the lack of dominance from top players Lorenzo Brown and C.J. Leslie.  Leslie leads the team in no category other than blocks while Brown continues to play uninspired ball.  N.C. State’s saving grace is that frosh forward T.J. Warren has gotten off to a terrific start.

He is nailing 70% of his shots and leading the team in scoring.

Brute forward Richard Howell is also playing similarly effectively.

N.C. State is quickly running out of chances to show something in the nonconference part of their schedule.  This may not be a vintage Huskies team but when you beat a Big East team at the Gardens it gets noticed.

The one good thing right now is that the play of both these teams to date might have created some value on the Wolfpack side.

Still tread carefully. [ad-6571516]

Connecticut

Kudos to the Huskies for not packing it in this season.  Their venerable coach is gone and has been replaced by a former player with no head coaching experience.  Several players left the program afterwards yet they are 6-1 with a nice win against Michigan State.  Sure they needed overtime to beat Quinnipiac but that is probably the way their season is going to go.

You have to try and make sense of the unpredictability.

The players that did stay are not all that bad, though the Huskies don’t have the kind of size that was trademark during the Calhoun era.  They are getting 41ppg from the combination of Shabazz Napier, Ryan Boatright and Omar Calhoun and that might be enough to keep them in a lot of ball games this year.

The Wolfpack’s beef and length up front should given them some problems though.

The Huskies have had only a few lined contests and their only ATS winner was their upset against MSU.  It seems this team is still getting a lot of name recognition respect for tread carefully.

They should battle in this one but I think they are ultimately overmatched.  They will have to control the action to stay in it.
