This game is being held at a neutral site in Atlanta, Georgia.

In their last games Mississippi State lost to South Carolina 74-62 and Vanderbilt lost to Ole Miss 65-62.

In the first round of the SEC tournament the Mississippi State Bulldogs play the Vanderbilt Commodores. Neither of these teams was over .500 for the season so the Big Dance is a pipe dream unless they pull off a chocker and win the conference tournament.

Vanderbilt was on their way to, at least, being on the Big Dance bubble, but they lost 6 of their last 8 games including their last 4 to end the season.

To say the Bulldogs ended the season poorly would be a major understatement, as they lost their last 13 games. MSU has not won a game since January 22nd.

Earlier this season at Vanderbilt the Commodores beat the Bulldogs 55-49.

Don’t look for a high scoring game tonight, as MSU ranks 270th in the nation in points per game and Vanderbilt ranks 313th. One of the reasons the Commodores have the much better defense ranking 54th in the nation in opponents’ points allowed while MSU ranks 209th.

While the Commodores do not have a high scoring team they do have 3 players averaging in double figures in Rod Odom, Damian Jones, and Kyle Fuller. Odom has really struggled in his last few games, but he was the high scorer in the earlier season match up with the Bulldogs going for 18 points.

Craig Sword is the leading scorer for the Bulldogs and while the team lost he had 19 points in the season finale. MSU does not really have one go-to guy, as they have 5 players are averaging over 8 ppg.

Not only did MSU end the season badly, but in each of their last 3 games they lost by double figures.

MSU finished in the basement of the SEC with only 3 conference wins.

Betting Trends

MSU is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games, 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a double-digit loss at home, and they have an Under record of 9-4 in their last 13 games.

Vanderbilt is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, and they have an Under record of 21-4-1 in their last 26 games following a S.U. loss.

MSU is 6-1-3 ATS in their last 10 games against Vanderbilt.

In the last 10 games between these 2 teams the total has gone Over 7 times.

Jason’s Pick:

The Commodores did lose their last 4 games, but facing a reeling MSU team that is reeling Vandy will win and cover.
