Syracuse

They might not have been the most exciting games to watch because Syracuse was in control most of both but they are playing great right now and you have to like their chances to cut down the nets, even if they do have to play Louisville.

Second year point guard Michael Carter-Williams has really come on of late. He is so long that he sometimes looks very awkward out there but he has has been shooting it straighter of late and even led the team in rebounds against Marquette. He makes this team very hard to guard because he has the ball in his hands a lot even though he is maybe the 4th option.

He is going to be a tough guard for Tim Hardaway Jr.

These are two very good teams playing their best basketball of the season right now. Given that you can get an extra couple of points cushion with the underdog it is very tempting but I am not sure that is the smart play here.

I think Michigan will be able to get into that zone better than the teams we have seen the Orange play recently and will win comfortably.

Michigan

When you combine the last five minutes of regulation from their win against Kansas and the first 10 minutes of their win against Florida it might be the best 15 minutes of basketball any team has played all season long. They furiously came back against the Jayhawks but they were just plain dominant against the Gators. [ad-6571516]

The Wolverines have a lot of talent and it finally seems like it is all coming together. Any chance all of it sticks around for another season in Ann Arbour?

In watching Michigan through the first three rounds many were saying what happened to shooter Nick Stauskas. Against Florida he went off making corner three and corner three on his way to a game high 22 points. His performance overshadowed the fact that Trey Burke was not very good shooting the ball, though he did chip in 8 boards and 7 assists.

Stauskas makes this team almost impossible to guard as they can go inside out as well as slash to the rim with Hardaway and Glenn Robinson III.

Both teams have looked good but the Wolverines have looked better.

The thing I like best is that they are able to score lots of points while having different offensive focuses.

Hardaway hasn’t been a huge factor in this tournament but I have a hunch his midrange game and defense on Carter-Williams are about to put him front and center – in a good way.
