There are currently 7 teams with a chance to have a perfect conference season but the Miami Hurricanes have to be the least likely among that group to have been considered a candidate to do so at the beginning of the season.

Miami

This team is super legit with a combination of blowouts and comebacks to their credit.  If you thought they were only pouncing on a weak ACC, this team also has a win against Michigan State so you know they are tough.

I love the makeup of this team.  Most of their key performers are seniors but the engine that makes them go is sophomore Shane Larkin, Barry’s kid.

The more you see him the more you realize that he is one of the best point guards in the country – and when he gets out of control the coach and team reign him back in.

I also love big center Reggie Johnson – though not the most skilled he is just hard to handle on the block.

Even though the secret is out on the Canes they are still making bettors very happy with a 15-4-1 ATS record (they are still perfect at home).  With this number in the medium range they are a great value play on Sunday afternoon.

They are likely to win by double that margin as they strive for that perfect ACC season.

Clemson

This has been a tough season for the Tigers.  At 5-7 in the ACC they are pretty much beating the teams they should both at home and on the road.  If they want to have a shot at even being considered for the postseason they have to beat Miami. [ad-6571516]

Whether it is lucky or not they will actually get two chances to do so, on Sunday, and on the last day of the regular season at Coral Gables.  Either seems unlikely.

One thing that gives Clemson a shot is that they are solid upfront.  The trio of Devin Booker, K.J. McDaniels and Milton Jennings produce but they will still have to man up against Miami.  At guard the Tigers don’t have much.

Point guard Rod Hall takes care of the ball but doesn’t put it in the basket all that often.  The rest of his backcourt mates like to shoot threes but they don’t make very many of them.

Clemson has also been solid ATS with a record of 12-8 after winning their last 2.

They have played well against some of the better team on their schedule keeping it close, and covering, against the likes of Gonzaga and N.C. State.

If this number were to climb to 10 or more I could see backing the home team but at the current number I don’t see much value on the Tigers.
