The sports betting odds for the Mid-American Conference should be fun to watch as there have been six different winners in the last seven years. Can Akron repeat, or will another squad step into the spotlight?

Kent State Golden Flashes

The Golden Flashes are an experienced bunch, led by Rodriguez Sherman and Tyree Evans. Kent State will be a guard-dominated team this year, and it’ll be even better if Chris Singletary can be more consistent from the field. Greg Avila and Justin Manns came from junior college to help out in the post. If the Golden Flashes are going to improve their NCAA basketball betting odds, they need to get better on the glass.

Central Michigan Chippewas

CMU hasn’t been to the Big Dance since 2003, but they have a very good shot at getting there this year with Chris Kellerman and Marco Spica back and healthy. This forward duo is eager to prove that they can play with the big boys. However, they have a killer stretch from November 21st to January 9th as nine of their 10 games during that time are on the road. Jordan Bitzer and Robbie Harman will appreciate the extra room they’ll have on the floor if the forwards can produce.

Akron Zips

Last year’s MAC champions, the Zips couldn’t overcome the NCAA basketball betting odds in the Tournament as they fell to Gonzaga. Only Nate Linhart is gone from last year’s team, and the Zips will pin their hopes on Chris and Brett McKnight, a pair of brothers at the forward position. “Humpty” Hitchens is looking to build on a promising freshman year, and Ronnie Steward is trying to prove he’s 100% after a hip injury bothered him for most of last year. If the McKnights can lead the way, the Zips could overcome the internet sports betting odds and win it again.Sports Betting at the Sportsbook

Ball State Cardinals

Jarrod Jones is the man to watch after a great freshman year, and he’ll be looking to lead the Cardinals back to the top of the MAC, even though they haven’t won the conference since 2000. Jones will be aided by Terrence Watson, who transferred from Ole Miss, and these forwards will have to carry a big load as the guards are the biggest worry to their online betting odds. Pierre Snead had a rough frosh year, and he has players behind him waiting to take his spot.

Miami-Ohio RedHawks

The RedHawks are the sleeper pick in the MAC, and it’s their perennially good defense that could have them overachieving. Kenny Hayes will look to pick up the slack left by MAC Player of the Year Michael Bramos, but it may be tougher to fill the void left in the post by Tyler Dierkers. Drew McGhee is a frosh that the RedHawks hope can step in quickly.

2009 MAC Pick

The Golden Flashes need to get consistent production from their big men, especially on the boards, and the same goes for Akron, and that’s why they won’t win this year. Central Michigan hasn’t won the conference since 2003, and with their frontcourt healthy, their guards should prosper. Go with the Chippewas in your sports picks.
