Big 12 Battle Features Streaking Kansas at Reeling Baylor

The defending national champion Kansas Jayhawks (17-4 SU, 10-5 ATS, 8-7 O/U) have won six consecutive games since falling to Michigan State back on Jan. 10, covering the spread in every contest except one. The Baylor Bears (15-6 SU, 6-7 ATS, 8-5 O/U) got their 2008-09 campaign off to a fantastic start but are mired in the midst of a poor three-game losing streak.Tonight, both Big 12 teams will be looking to pick up a victory when they battle at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Tx.

The Jayhawks got a bit of a scare at home, before holding on to beat Colorado 66-61 at Phog Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday, though they came nowhere close to covering the huge 22-point spread as home favorites.

Sophomore center Cole Aldrich scored a team-high 15 points to lead three players in double figure scoring, though they Jayhawks shot a dismal 41.2 percent from the field compared to Colorado’s 47.1 percent mark.

Kansas was helped immensely by the fact that they outscored the Buffaloes 19-8 at the free throw line.

Baylor was spanked 89-72 by the Missouri Tigers at Mizzou Arena Saturday, suffering their third straight defeat while failing to cover the spread for the third straight time as well, this time a 6.5-point road underdogs in the BetUS Sportsbook.

Senior forward Kevin Rogers led Baylor with 18 points but the Bears were outscored 30-10 at the free throw line as Rogers fouled out and two other bears nearly did, committing four personals apiece.

Three other players hacked their respective way to three personal fouls apiece as the Bears committed a whopping 26 for the contest.

Analysis: I’m going to ‘keep it real’ for my beloved BetUS college basketball sports betting fanatics by saying that, although the Kansas Jayhawks are clearly not anywhere near the team that won the national championship last season, they are talented – and focused – enough to march into Waco and beat the reeling Bears, who have some big problems at the moment.

By no means will it be a cakewalk for the Jayhawks, but with the spread being just one point, I like them to win outright and cover.
