Indiana

Both teams have a couple of games over second place but if the Hoosiers lose this one and another roadie at Michigan, they could be looking at a third place finish, at best.

Winning out could earn them a top seed no matter what happens in the Big Ten Tournament.

Cody Zeller may be the top pick in next year’S NBA draft but he is not the only reason this Indiana team is at the top of the national rankings.

He is one of 5 Hoosiers that average in double figures but he doesn’t even lead the team in FG% despite taking so many shots from in close.

Guard Victor Oladipo is shooting 64% from the field, which is incredible for a perimeter player.  That includes 52% from deep.

It says a lot about both of these teams that the top team in the country is not the favourite in this one – even though they have already beaten MSU once this season.

They are still good value given the fact they are just +1 but as indicated below I don’t see the value or logic in taking IU here even though it is a rare underdog occurrence for them.

Michigan State

The Spartans are doing their thing and if they win this one they could find themselves switching spots with Indiana at the top of the polls.

[ad-6571516]

Though not blessed with overwhelming talent this team is getting it done night after night and will be looking to avenge a loss at Indiana earlier in the season.

The Hoosiers are the second highest scoring team in the country and they will test an MSU defense that gives up less than 60 points per game.

One area where the Spartans have an advantage is at point guard with Luke Appling.  He is the Spartans leading scorer and has an uncanny ability to play well in the clutch.  The Spartans are really strong up front with big bodies Derrick Nix and Adrien Payne, both of whom can make things uncomfortable for Zeller.

The best thing about all of these guys is that they really play within themselves.

The last time they played Indiana the Spartans covered despite losing the contest.  If they want to cover again this time they will have to win.  At home the way they are playing that sounds like a very good value play.

I am not sure I would ever bet against Izzo winning on his homecourt, especially with this tough squad.
