Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. Arizona Wildcats Free Pick – Odds & NCAA Tournament Predictions

Gonzaga vs Arizona West Region Handicapping

The Wildcats sure didn’t look like No. 1 seed on Friday, but will get the added benefit of playing a Gonzaga squad that also looked like it could improve, when the two tangle in San Diego in a third-round matchup in the West regional on Sunday. [ad-4468020]

ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

Arizona looked shaky in their second round match up with pesky Weber State, beat outlasted them to grab a 68-59 win.

The Wildcats were led by Pac-12 Player of the Year Nick Johnson, who had a team-high 18 points while Aaron Gordon had 16 points, eight rebounds, and five blocks, as the Wildcats finished with a season-high 12 rejections.

Gordon may be the team’s most talented player, and will be a key cog in the Arizona machine when they meet up with the Bulldogs who will counter with leading scorer Sam Dower, who managed only three points on 1-of-5 shooting in a 85-77 win over Oklahoma State on Friday.

Gonzaga finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field and from behind the arc and got hot down the stretch when they needed it.

Kevin Pangos led the way offensively, finished with 26 against the Cowboys, a few ticks better than his season average, as the junior guard had not surpassed 18 points in any of his previous 13 games.

He was complemented by Gary Bell, who shot 6-of-8 from the field and is 16-of-23 – including 8-of-10 from 3-point range – over his previous three games.

However, the Bulldogs could use more offense of they want to beat Arizona, especially in free throw shooting as the Bulldogs made just 26-of-41 in Friday’s contest.

Free Pick: Arizona — Arizona, seems to have cooled, and has not reached 75 points in any of its last six games after hitting that number in 11 of its first 29 games.

These two teams played a thrilling round of 32 in the 2003 NCAA tournament, a game in which top-seeded Arizona took out then ninth-seeded Gonzaga, 96-95 in double overtime.

Gonzaga plays terrific defense and shoots great from the field. Meanwhile, the Wildcats are overrated with Brandon Ashley sitting on the sideline.
