Kentucky blasted LSU 74-50 on the road at the end of January.

It’s been hard to find a team that can hang around with this Kentucky team this year.

LSU has had an up and down season. The Tigers lost their last three regular season games, but they handed Arkansas quite easily Thursday afternoon. Justin Hamilton is the main man in the middle for LSU. Hamilton leads the team in both scoring and rebounding.

The 7’0 center averages 12.9 points and 7.2 boards per game. He also has 40 blocked shots this season. This team likes to take a lot of three-point shots, but they have had trouble knocking them down this year.

Andre Stringer and Ralston Turner are both capable of heating up from outside, and they’ll need to be on fire in this one. The Kentucky interior defense will make life miserable for Hamilton and the rest of the frontcourt, so I expect LSU to shoot a lot of outside jumpers here. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Kentucky is led by national Player of the Year candidate Anthony Davis. I would argue no one in college basketball changes the game more than Davis. He leads the team in every single offensive category except assists, and he leads the team in both steals and blocks.

Davis dominates the paint on defense like no other player in recent memory has done.

He has a ridiculous 145 blocks this year. Offensively, he has improved a ton through the season, and he shoots 66.3% from the floor. Despite Jones’ greatness this is far from a one-man team.

Terrence Jones, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Doron Lamb can all take over the game offensively. Defensively, Kentucky allows opponents to shoot only 36.5% from the floor.

It’s almost impossible to get an easy shot against this long and athletic team.

I see no reason to believe that LSU can even hang around a little bit in this one.

Prediction: Kentucky 76 LSU 51
