If the Golden Eagles win this one they will secure a second place regular season finish.

Georgetown is tied with Notre Dame and South Florida in third place in the Big East. Both of these teams have been terrific this season, and there will be plenty on the line Saturday afternoon.

Expect the best effort from both of these teams.

Georgetown lost a ton of talent from last year’s team, but it seems they have better team chemistry this season. Jason Clark is the team’s go to guy, and he leads the team in scoring at 14.5 points per game. Hollis Thompson is a sharp shooter from outside, and he is shooting 45% from beyond the arc. Henry Sims has been the biggest surprise for this Hoyas team.

Sims averaged only three points and three rebounds per game last year, but he puts in 11.3 points and grabs 5.5 boards per game this year. Interestingly, Sims who is a center, is also the team’s leading assist man at 97 assists. The primary reason this team has been so successful is their defense.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

Georgetown allows opponents to shoot just 38.5% and score only 58.1 points per game.

Marquette is led by the duo of Darius Johnson-Odom and Jae Crowder. DJO is one of the best guards in the nation. He averages 18.3 points per game, and he shoots 40% from three-point range. Crowder is a big man who has tons of versatility. Crowder averages 17.4 points and 7.7 boards per game.

The emergence of Jamil Wilson off the bench has really helped the Golden Eagles with depth in the frontcourt. Junior Cadougan usually gets overlooked because he isn’t a scorer, but he has 159 assists compared to just 71 turnovers this year from the point guard spot. Marquette averages 76 points per game.

The Golden Eagles play hard to the final whistle every game, and that is exactly what Buzz Peterson expects from them.

This should be a very good Big East regular season finale. Marquette has only lost once at home this year, and I think they pull out a close one here.

Prediction: Marquette 68 Georgetown 62
