The Vikings have played exceptionally well in the Horizon League this season.

They’ll have to make sure they don’t get caught looking ahead to next game where they take on the team they’re tied with for 1st place, Green Bay. For now, head coach Gary Waters and his team need to focus on Oakland, who is playing some great basketball and is climbing up the standings fast.
The Vikings come in off an impressive 70-66 victory of the Detroit Titans at home on Friday. Things looked bleak for Cleveland State as they missed 13 free throws in the contest and were trailing for a majority of the 2nd half. However, Trey Lewis took the game in his hands and scored 30 points, including some clutch free throws down the stretch to put the game out of reach.
On the season, Lewis is averaging 17.1 points a game. The Horizon League Player of the Year candidate has scored 59 points in the Vikings last two games. The offense only goes, when Trey Lewis is going.

Oakland
The Golden Grizzlies played one of the tougher non-conference schedules in the NCAA. Their 8-12 record is not quite reflective on who they really are. They’ve shown their strengths as of late, winning 3 in a row, with 2 of those being conference victories. The one that stands out is their victory back on Jan. 15 when they knocked off the tied for first place Green Bay Phoenix 69-66. They’ve used impressive 3 point shooting to go along with good defense to get wins.
Leading the way for Oakland is Kahlil Felder. The Sophomore G is scoring 16.8 points a game and is coming off an 18 point performance against Milwaukee. Felder shot 7 of 11 from the field.
The Golden Grizzlies also get big contributions from F Corey Petros. Petros is scoring 13.3 points a game and is grabbing 7.9 rebounds. He was contained in Oakland’s road match up against Cleveland State as he only went for 6 points.
