To do so they need to take advantage of all the opportunities they can.

North Carolina

The Tar Heels are among the most talented teams in the nation.

Though they may not always play like it they are definitely a contender in the ACC and should be considered a potential title contender as well. North Carolina is a one point loss to Notre Dame away from a perfect start to the ACC season.

This is the first of a five game stretch in which the games look to be getting progressively more challenging – they will host undefeated Virginia in the first week of February.

All season long the question has been what is wrong with Marcus Paige.

He had a season high 23 points and 9 assists in a big win over NC State so hopefully that might get him going because UNC needs his outside shooting to loosen up things inside and his overall playmaking ability. It is hard not to like the Tar Heels bigs.

Brice Johnson and Kennedy Meeks are efficient scorers who stay within themselves.

Wake Forest

At various times the Demon Deacons have been important players in the ACC and they have cranked out NBA stars like Chris Paul and Tim Duncan…but that seems like a long time ago.

A really long time ago and the ACC is a lot more competitive than it ever was thanks to the additions of several strong programs over the years.

This season they are hoping that new coach Danny Manning can put them on a path back to being a factor.

That is a tall order but he has a nice background for getting them there.

Wake has a couple of nice pieces in Code Miller-McIntyre and Devin Thomas.

Thomas is a strong low post player who is averaging near a double-double while CMM is a more diverse threat, leading the team in scoring and assist while also being second in rebounding.

WF’s biggest problem is that there is not much backing up these two guys. Against a deep team like UNC that ultimately is their undoing.

NCAAB Handicapping Trends:

  • WAKE are 7-0-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
  • Over is 8-1 in WAKE last 9 home games.
  • Under is 20-9-1 in WAKE last 30 Wed. games.
  • Underdog is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings.

4* NCAAB Prediction:  North Carolina -8

North Carolina should have little trouble dispatching the weak sister of Tobacco Road.

NCAAB Score prediction:  North Carolina 81 – Wake Forest 69

The number here is already creeping up so you might want to act fast.
