Villanova may be catching Syracuse at a weak moment but that doesn’t mean this one is going to be easy.
Syracuse
It was widely thought that this would not be a vintage Syracuse team but nobody thought they would struggle like they have so far this season.

The Orange began the season in the Top 25 but with three losses before Christmas they have slipped out of the rankings.
This will be their toughest test as the go on the road to face an undefeated Villanova team.
It is nice that they have renewed this series but this year it might be a mismatch. Last year Syracuse won easily so there could be some payback here as well.
The Orange lost a lot of scoring from last year’s team and would be much worse off if not for the amazing production of Rakeem Christmas.
The senior big leads the team in scoring and rebounding despite playing less than 30mpg.

This is another strong year for freshman and the Orange have a great duo on Chris McCullough and Kaleb Joseph. McCullough is long and highly skilled and has contributed more than most thought.
In terms of production there are few frosh his equal.
Villanova
The Wildcats are off to a fantastic start.
They are a perfect 10-0 and when you look at the schedule it is hard to find a place where it looks like they are going to lose. Is it possible we could have 2 undefeated teams heading into the Tournament, that would be very exciting.
Villanova overwhelms teams with good talent but even better chemistry.
While many top teams are being led by freshman this group has lots of experience and all the players seem to know their roles and are comfortable in them.
It is hard to find a weak spot on this Villanova team and they can get better too because as well as they have played they are really not getting much from JayVaughn Pinkston – who is only 5th on the team in scoring.
I also expect Daniel Ochefu to become a double-double guy imminently.

He is definitely the equal of Christmas and if he wins that battle than Villanova will wins this one going away.
