This one could be but I think there is also a chance both teams can run away with it.
N.C. State
At their best The Wolfpack are a very dangerous team, capable of competing with anybody in the nation.
They have a strong backcourt and just enough size up front to be dangerous.
They are not as talented as they were a couple of years ago but it seems this program does better when the stars are not as bright and the egos are not as large.

They could be a threat in this tournament if they are able to get past a very capable LSU team.
Ahh the rub of being in that 8 vs. 9 game.
Even though he is surrounded by more veteran players in the backcourt the key to success for NC State may be sophomore Cat Barber.
He is lightning quick and can create opportunities for himself and others.
He scored 34 points against Pitt in the ACC tournament and they need him fully healthy to draw attention from shooters Ralston Turner and Trevor Lacey. That trio has to be at the top of their game.
LSU
The Tigers have all the makings of a program on the rise, now all they need are some wins to build excitement.

LSU was one of a handful of teams that came close to beating Kentucky this season and as exciting as that would have been tournament success will be much more valuable.
Blessed with a big and very talented frontcourt they are a real threat to any team they play. Similar to their opponents I think that if they can get by that first game they could push on and have a deep run.
Up front the Tigers have not one but two dynamic players. Jarrell Martin has the size of a power forward but it able to handle the ball like a wing.
He is a very strong scorer. Jordan Hickey’s game is a little more traditional, he rebounds the ball and is a strong post defender against his own man and everyone who ventures into the paint.

The two of them are a potent combination and all they need is enough guard support not to screw it up.
