Maryland has made themselves right at home but they might not enjoy the cooking on the road on Thursday night.
Maryland
The Terps are in second place in the Big Ten but showing some signs of weakness.
After getting hammered at Indiana they escaped a home date with Northwestern with a one point victory and now they are on the road again against a pretty good Ohio State team.

As the competition has stiffened and the games have gotten tighter there is more pressure on their perimeter oriented attack. The talent is there but this team might not be up for the “wars” of conference play.
It will be a great battle between freshman guards in this one.
The Terps top scorer is frosh Melo Trimble who plays with an aggressiveness beyond his year, scoring every which way.
His impact takes from pressure off the Dez Wells and Jake Layman.

Both are solid all around contributors but Layman’s numbers have been down over the last couple of games and I wonder if having to take on a bit of a load inside is catching up to him.
Ohio State
The Buckeyes just beat an Indiana that completely handled Maryland so this will be one of those games which gives us a better idea of where teams really are at in the Big Ten.
The Buckeyes are good and look to be among contenders in the league but they will have to maintain their success at home (13-1) to be in the mix.
They have won their last three and if they can get this one have an opportunity to build a nice run before heading to East Lansing in a couple of weeks.
OSU’s fab frosh is D’Angelo Russell who is also leading his team in scoring. He is a nice player but to be to honest he doesn’t wow me.
The guy who does is Sam Thompson who has to be the bounciest player in the game right now. His game can be a little raw but he is good for a highlight reel play or two every game.

He is also a good defender and will be responsible for limiting one of the Terps key perimeter players.
