Maryland

The Terrapins are definitely not being shy about invading their new home in the Big Ten.

They currently sit atop the table with a 5-1 record which along with a strong non-conference performance has zoomed them into the Top Ten.

Their current perch does seem a little bit lofty but I see no reason why they can’t compete well in their new league on their first go around.

This team has solid talent and seems inspired by the change of address.  They are also catching the league at a time of high parity.

Maryland’s strength is definitely on the perimeter.

Melo Trimble is among the most productive freshman guards in the country and Jake Layman and Dez Wells are two crafty scorer who make contributions all over the boxscore.

It still remains to be seen whether they can overcome the fact that there inside players do not command much attention but so far they are have not been exposed.

Indiana

This is supposed to be a rebuilding year for Indiana so the fact that they are ranked is a bit of a surprise.

Since B10 play started they have been solid, including road wins at Nebraska and at Illinois. It will be interesting to see if they can keep this up with injuries to Hanner Mosquer-Perreira up front.

He has been a disappointment when compared to his recruiting headlines but he was averaging 20 minutes a night and helping on the backboards.

In this matchup he probably won’t be missed too badly.

Indiana also has a highly productive freshman guard – James Blackmon Jr. – who is leading the team in scoring 16ppg.

He and Yogi Ferrell make up a pretty productive backcourt and they will have a good challenge against the Terps.

The Hoosiers have a tough road trip coming up and they need this one for some momentum. I like their guards but I am not sold on this team overall.

4* NCAAB Prediction:  Maryland -1

I am liking the Terps the more I see them.

NCAAB Score prediction:  Maryland 74 – Indiana 68

They are a tad undersized but their perimeter guys are really good and they know they need to chip in. Take them as small favourites here.
