College Ball – Butler Bulldogs take on Wisconsin Green-Bay Phoenix

BetUS NCAAB Betting Odds: BUTLER -2, Total 128.5

Here are some of the NCAA basketball sports betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

BUT has won its last 11 games SU
BUT has played five of its last seven games UNDER the total BUT has covered its last six road games
BUT has won eight of its last nine road games SU
BUT has played five of its last seven road games OVER the total
WGB has won seven of its last eight games SU
WGB has won its last five home games SU

Also…

BUT has won the last nine meetings SU
Four of the last six games have gone OVER the total BUT has covered four of the last five meetings as the road team
Four of the last five meetings in Green Bay have gone UNDER the total
BUT has made more three-pointers in five of the last six meetings
Butler did not shoot well in its last outing at Valparaiso, hitting just 38% of its shots and having more trouble than expected in a 59-51 victory. Ultimately it was their ability to get to the line that was the difference. twenty-one Valpo turnovers also likely had something to do with it.

Teams like Cleveland State, who scored an upset at Syracuse earlier this year, and Wright State, which almost always plays Butler tough, have been trying to snatch the Horizon title (and its automatic tournament bid) away from the Bulldogs. Wisconsin-Green Bay and its sister school, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, got off to good starts and wanted to make a bid as well.

Butler did not look especially good ten days ago, when it beat WGB in Indianapolis. The Phoenix gave them a very difficult time with their defensive scheme, and held Butler to just 28% shooting in the first half of the game. In the second half Butler righted itself, shooting 60% and eventually pulling away enough for the win, but nothing was easy.

It won’t be this time, either, with Green Bay looking for some revenge, but the Phoenix did spend some emotional energy getting revenge over Loyola-Chicago for last year’s loss, and achieved it with a 19-point victory. They have failed to cover just once since December 13, and are 41% from beyond the arc (sixth in the country), but you can be assured that Butler, which has won and covered eight of its nine road games, including triumphs at Bradley, Cleveland State and Xavier and which allows just 37.6% shooting (and 53 ppg over their last five), will have an answer for that.

They are the program that is further along right now, and the top dog in the Horizon until proven otherwise. Lay the reasonable number with Butler, the two-point favorite in the BetUS Sportsbook NCAA college basketball betting odds.
