NCAAB Betting: Maine vs. OU (Dec 10)

Get ready for March Madness with our 2008 NCAAB daily gambling matchup previews, picks, and predictions. The Oklahoma Sooners play the Maine Black Bears tonight, we preview and pick this game…

NCAA Basketball Pick-em Maine @ Oklahoma

The Maine Black Bears (4-4 SU, 1-1 ATS) snapped a four-game losing streak in the BetUS Sportsbook the last time out. The Oklahoma Sooners (8-0 SU, 4-2 ATS, 4-2 O/U) maintained their unbeaten record with another solid win the last time they took the court.

Both teams will be looking to pick up another victory for fans and NCAA college basketball sports betting backers when they meet at the Lloyd Noble Center tonight.

Maine, which has the youngest team in the America East Conference with six freshmen and three sophomores, is coming off a 67-56 home victory over Colgate, led by junior guard Mark Socoby’s 21 points on 7-for-13 shooting while junior guard Junior Bernal added 17 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field.

The Sooners are coming off a 69-44 win over Tulsa on Sunday, covering the spread as 7.5-point home favorites in the BetUS Sportsbook.

“I like the way we started the game,” Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel said. “I thought we had good intensity, and we got after it defensively. … I thought our defense allowed us to get in transition to give us some easy opportunities. (The first half) was probably the best 20 minutes we have played all year.”

Sophomore forward Blake Griffin scored a team-high 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field while Willie Warren and Tony Crocker added 14 and 12 points respectively.
“Overall we haven’t been playing as well as we are capable of,” Griffin said. “I mean we show it sometimes, but we don’t always come out and execute, bring energy and that is something we can always do. Sometimes you can’t control if you are making shots or not, but you can control how hard you go and that is something we need to get better at.”

Griffin leads the nation in rebounding, averaging 16.3 boards per game.

Analysis: Though there are currently no odds posted for this contest, I don’t think this pick requires much guesswork.

Simply put, I like the Sooners to win this matchup by somewhere in the neighborhood of 14 to 20 points. If the point spread looks right and doesn’t exceed 16 or 17 points, I say take the Sooners to cover.
