Winning in the tournament is all about having your best players step up, which is exactly what guard Jacob Pullen did for the Wildcats in Round 2. Some gave Utah State a great chance to upset a K-State team that has been erratic all season long but Pullen wouldn’t be denied setting up an interesting contrast in styles for their next game against Wisconsin.

K-State is a supremely athletic team that can play a little wild at times. Against less talented teams like Utah State they can get away with these stretches but to beat Wisconsin you usually have to be more efficient throughout the contest. This is should be a very good matchup between Pullen and Badgers lead guard Jordan Taylor.

Pullen will need to outperform to extend the Wildcats season by another week, while hoping for continued support from his frontcourt mates.

Lots of people were looking for Belmont to put a scare into Wisconsin but it didn’t really happen.

The Badgers didn’t play great in the first half but they kept their opponent in check and built a lead that they increased as the game wore on. The duo of forward Jon Leuer and guard Jordan Taylor scored 43 combined but no other Badger scored in double figures. As the tournament progresses and the competition increases they are going to need more production from their secondary players to keep on winning.

Again this team proved that while they like to play at a controlled pace they can be successful when the game picks up as well.

These two teams faced off in the tournament a back in 2008 with the Badgers dispatching the Wildcats easily (72-55).

None of the key players on either team were factors in that contest which was headlined by Wildcat forward Michael Beasley.

Betting Trends:

Under is 9-2 in KANST last 11 non-conference games.
KANST are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 Sat. games.
KANST are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

Prediction: Like in ‘08 I expect the Badgers to win but this one will be tighter. Superior free throw shooting down the stretch will make a very close game look a little less so.

Score prediction: Wisconsin 69 – Kansas State 62
