Kentucky Wildcats vs. Mississippi Rebels Preview

Tonight in a SEC match up the reeling Mississippi Rebels (13-8) host the 11th ranked Kentucky Wildcats (16-4). NCAAB lines have the visiting Wildcats as 6.5-point favorites in this game with a total of 146.5.

In their last games both teams played on Saturday with Kentucky beating Georgia 66-60 while the Rebels were killed by Tennessee losing 74-58.

Mississippi looked solid before SEC play began, but they are only 1-5 in conference play. Kentucky is in 2nd place in the SEC East (4-2) and they have won 4 of their last 5 games. The Rebels are in danger of missing out on a Big Dance invite, but they can get back in the NCAA tournament picture with a win in this game.

This season both teams have pretty even ATS records with Mississippi at 9-8 ATS and Kentucky at 8-7 ATS.

The Wildcats only play a 6-man rotation and they may be hitting the wall. They had a 17-point lead over Georgia, but only won by 6 points. C Doron Lamb stated after the game that the team is a little gassed and they are, “probably a little tired” and “we always play six guys.”

Kentucky is a high scoring team, ranking 29th in the nation in scoring, that can hit the boards ranking 21st in the nation in rebounds per game. They are led by F Terrence Jones (17.7 ppg) and G Brandon Knight (17.1 ppg), who are both athletic guys that can light it up. The Rebels cannot allow the Wildcats to get in the open court and score easy points off the fast break.

The Rebels are led by the backcourt duo of Chris Warren (18.2 ppg) and Zach Graham (14 ppg) and these guys are the only 2 averaging in double figures. These guys will have to shoot the rock well tonight for Mississippi to have any chance at an upset.

Mississippi ranks 128th in the nation in rebounds per game and in their last 3 losses they were out-rebounded. If they cannot keep Terrence Jones (8.8 rpg) and Josh Harrellson (9.2 rpg) off the boards they will be in big trouble.

The Rebels simply do not match up well with the Wildcats, who may be fatigued, but they will come out and easily win this game and cover the 6.5-point spread.

Betting Trends

Mississippi is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and Kentucky is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 SEC teams.
