The Missouri Tigers are looking to strengthen their position as a potential at-large selection for the NCAA Tournament. Standing in their way are the Nebraska Cornhuskers as the two teams meet in a Big 12 Conference showdown in Lincoln on Tuesday.

The Tigers know they have No. 2 Kansas coming to Mizzou Arena for the regular season finale this weekend, so this game with the Cornhuskers is one that they can’t afford to overlook. The Tigers have a solid RPI of 28, so an at-large to the big dance certainly seems within their grasp.

Missouri is led by the play of Marcus Denmon, who averages 16.7 points per game. Denmon paces a Missouri club that averages 82.8 points per contest, good for second in the Big 12 and sixth best in the entire country. Ricardo Ratliffe is another of the five Tigers averaging double figures at 11.1 PPG while shooting 59.1 percent from the field, third best in the conference.

For the Cornhuskers, they are 6-8 in league play with two games remaining – this one against the Tigers and Saturday’s season finale at Colorado. These are also the last two regular season games that Nebraska will play as a member of the Big 12. They move to the Big Ten Conference in all sports next scholastic season.

Nebraska is paced by the scoring prowess of senior guard Lance Jeter, who averages 11.4 PPG and 4.4 assists per game as well. Despite being eight games over .500 overall, the Cornhuskers have an RPI of 82, meaning that they are looking at an NIT berth if they don’t win the conference tournament next week. Missouri won the first meeting between these teams 77-69 in Columbia back on January 12. Denmon hit five three-pointers in that game and finished with 27 points in the victory.

CBB Betting Trends:

Over is 6-2 in MISSO last 8 road games.
MISSO are 21-44 ATS in their last 65 road games.
Under is 28-10 in NEB last 38 home games.
MISSO are 4-9-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Missouri – The Cornhuskers have been too inconsistent to be a pick at home in this game. As well as they played in Lincoln in upsetting then No.2 Texas ten days ago, they followed that up struggling in losses to Kansas State (at home) and Iowa State.

Matt Martz is a sports writer for the Bakersfield Californian, the Oregonian, the Springfield Republican, and the Utah Spectrum. Blessed is the gambler who expects nothing, for ye shall not be disappointed.
