Two teams with March Madness aspirations take the floor at Cameron Indoor Stadium as the fourth ranked Duke Blue Devils play host to their ACC rivals the Clemson Tigers.

The Blue Devils fell from the top spot in the ranking this past week after losing on Saturday night at Virginia Tech. The Hokies are actually a team that the Tigers are trying to keep pace with in the fight for the final at-large bid from the ACC. Most projections have four or five teams going to the NCAA Tournament from this league. If its five, then Clemson needs to improve their RPI ranking (currently 86) and a win here would accomplish this. If it is four, then this becomes must-win territory for Clemson.

The Tigers have won their last two games after dropping the previous two, including an eight-point defeat at NC State. For Clemson to win in this only meeting with the Blue Devils, they must get top-level performances from Demontez Stitt (14.1PPG), Jerai Grant (12.4 PPG, 59.3 percent FG), and Andre Young (10.9PPG).

Clemson must also put forth an intense defensive effort against Duke’s offense. Nolan Smith (21.3PPG) is the leading scorer in the ACC, and Kyle Singler (17.4PPG) is fourth best in the league. The Tigers will also need to limit turnovers to have a chance. The Tigers average 18 turnovers per contest, and additionally they need to have a solid performance on the boards as well.

The two previous times the Blue Devils lost a game this season, they rebounded to win the next contest by an average of 17 points. Duke is just 9-8-0 ATS this season at home, but this game has added importance for Smith and Singler, as well as reserve guard Casey Peters. The three will play their final home games at Cameron Indoor Stadium, and the emotions will be something they need to keep in check.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Duke – The Blue Devils are almost an automatic in front of the Cameron Crazies, and with tournament time and a showdown with UNC right around the corner, looking past the Tigers is not an option.
