Richmond Spiders vs. Kansas Jayhawks
Richmond (29-7) is one of a few Cinderella teams left in the Big Dance, but can they take out top-ranked Kansas (34-2), who is stacked and has had no problem advancing the Sweet 16? NCAAB lines have Kansas as big 10.5-point favorites in this game with a total of 138.
In their last games Richmond looked impressive in beating Morehead State 65-48 and Kansas beat Illinois 73-59.
This season Richmond has been a great betting team going 21-12 ATS and Kansas has just been decent at 17-16-1 ATS.
The Spiders played great defense in beating Morehead State holding them to 37.5% shooting, but you think they can do the same against a Kansas team that ranks 5th in the nation in scoring and 1st in FG%? I think not. For the Spiders to pull off the HUGE upset they not only have to play good D, but they have to get another good all-around scoring game from the trio of F Justin Harper, C Dan Geriot, and G Kevin Anderson, who combined for 45 points in the win over Morehead State. Kansas has a very athletic team, so the Spiders will have to use great ball movement and they also have to play a very slow tempo game. 
Markieff and Marcus Morris are the big guns for the Jayhawks and the F combo combined to score 41 points and 24 rebounds in the win over Illinois. They are 6’9” and 6’10” respectively and the Spiders cannot let these guys kill them in the paint. In the Illinois win Kansas shot almost 52% from the floor and held the Fighting Illini to only 38.3% shooting. They have quick guards that can shoot and Richmond and their 16th ranked defense has their work cut out for them.
Kansas ranks 19th in the nation in rebounds per game while Richmond only ranks 259th and they do not have much size and are outmatched in the lane.
I think the Spiders will do their best to slow down the game, but Kansas simply is way too talented to be held down. Richmond only played 2 ranked teams this season in Temple twice and Purdue once and against Purdue they lost by 11 and at Temple they lost by 20. The Morris twins will have their way in the paint and Kansas will win this game and cover the big 10.5-point spread.
