The third-ranked Longhorns look to preserve their perfect record in Big 12 play Wednesday night when they visit the Sooners.

Texas has climbed to first in the conference and is off to its best start in league play since 1977-78.

All eight wins this season have been by double-digit margins, including a 76-60 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. The Longhorns shot 56.7 percent in the first half while connecting on six of 11 3-pointers. Gary Johnson and leading scorer Jordan Hamilton put on a clinic for the Longhorns, with 16 points apiece. Hamilton also contributed a game-leading nine rebounds and made four 3-pointers

The sophomore, who is averaging 18.9 points this season, is shooting 46.3 percent from 3-point range over the last seven games.

The Longhorns routed the Sooners 66-46 on Jan. 15 as Texas held the Sooners to 19 first-half points in that game, and 39.2-percent shooting overall. However, the Longhorns could face more of a challenge in Norman, where the Sooners are 11-1 this season and shooting 49.1 percent.

First, Oklahoma will need to bounce back from an 81-75 loss at Oklahoma State on Saturday.

The Sooners had won four straight before the loss and led by 15 early, but were held to only three field goals over the first 15 minutes of the second half as the Cowboys rallied with a 21-6 run. Cade Davis and Andrew Fitzgerald each scored 18 points in the effort.

Last year, the Longhorns put up a record of 1-1 against the Sooners. In four seasons, Texas has a record of 8-2 against Oklahoma, including 2-2 at Lloyd Noble Center. Oklahoma has won its last two home games against the Longhorns, including last season’s meeting.

Texas is an overwhelming favorite and will look to put more points on the scoreboard quicker with an advantage against the Sooners in scoring, 76 to 68 PPG.

Trends:
TEX are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
TEX are 16-33-2 ATS in their last 51 vs. Big 12.
Under is 9-2-1 in OKL last 12 home games.
TEX are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings.

Matt’s Free Pick: The second half of the Tech game really exposed the weaknesses and the strengths of Texas and they must make their outside shooting count because they haven’t been great on the offensive boards this year. The defense is still very good and should help them walk away with the win here.  HOOK’EM HORNS!
