Following a 67-52 loss, the Cincinnati Bearcats will travel to South Bend on Wednesday to tip off against No. 16 Notre Dame — Cincinnati’s third top-25 opponent in the past 10 days.

The Bearcats enter the game following a season-low 30.5 shooting percentage against No. 4 Syracuse, something they will need to repair before taking on the Irish.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame are coming into the game off back-to-back losses losing by 18 and 22 point margins while slipping to .500 in conference play and currently find themselves 10 in the Big East.

However, the  Irish do posses the ability to score from everywhere on the court, with two dominant big-men in the paint averaging over 10 points and six rebounds per game, and skilled perimeter shooters who are netting over 44 percent of their shots from the field.

Forward Tim Abromaitis leads Notre Dame averaging 15.5 points and 11.9 boards per game, while senior guard Ben Hansbrough averages a team-high 15.9 points per game and is one of the nation’s best 3-point shooters— ranked 25th nationally shooting 43.4 percent from beyond the arc.

To make matters worse for the Bearcats, Notre Dame plays better at home; winning its last 13 games in the Joyce Center, including wins this season against No. 8 Connecticut and No. 23 Georgetown.

The Irish will be facing a Cincinnati defense that holds opponents to a Big East best 56.2 points per game, but has averaged 68.3 points in its last three games. Something they will need to remedy before Wednesday’s contest.

The Bearcats will need to play good defense against a bipolar Notre Dame who seem to possess a dual personality — home and on the road – but at the same time boast one of the nation’s best offenses.

If the Cats can’t get to the Irish in the first 20 minutes, I am afraid this one could get away from them by the half.
