Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Georgetown Hoyas Preview

In a Big East match up in the Nation’s Capital between a couple of teams that each have 21 wins the 11th ranked Georgetown Hoyas host the Cincinnati Bearcats. NCAAB lines have Georgetown as 7-point favorites in this game.

Both teams played their last games on Saturday with Georgetown beating South Florida 61-55 and Cincinnati beating Providence 93-81 in OT.

Georgetown has been a solid betting team in the season going 15-11 ATS and Cincinnati has been mediocre at 11-11 ATS. Cincinnati is 1-3-1 ATS in the last 5 games at Georgetown.

The Hoyas have won 4 straight home games and they are the best shooting team in the Big East and in their last game leading scorer Austin Freeman (17.7 ppg) struggled, but the rest of the team picked up the scoring slack. Freeman has not played well recently averaging 11.0 ppg on 32.5% shooting in his last 3 games.

While the Bearcats have a winning road record (5-4) this season they have lost 20 straight games on the road against ranked teams.

The Hoyas may have to shoot well in this game facing Cincinnati and their tough 9th ranked defense, as they only rank 222nd in the nation in rebounds per game. If Freeman struggles again F Julian Vaughn (6.2 rpg) and F Hollis Thompson (4.4 rpg) will not only help on offense, but also hit the boards.

Cincy may have to rely on their defense to win this game, as they are not a high scoring team. G Dion Dixon (11.1 ppg), G/F Yancy Gates (10.9 ppg), and G Sean Kilpatrick (10.3 ppg) will have to shoulder the offensive load and they will have to shoot the rock from the outside. The Bearcats do not feature a lot of inside scoring and if they struggle with their outside J they are in trouble.

Georgetown is rolling and I think freeman will get back on track even though the Bearcats have a great defense. The Hoyas will win this game and cover the 7-point spread.

Betting Trends

Cincinnati is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and Georgetown is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.

Pick: Georgetown -7
